Tofu Too Salty

  • marinated tofu
  • water
  • oil
  • lemon juice
  • herbs

Why it happened

Salt sits on the surface and in the marinade. Rinsing and adding fat and acid reduce perceived saltiness.

The fix

  1. 1 rinse briefly and pat dry to remove surface salt
  2. 2 toss with 1 teaspoon oil and lemon juice
  3. 3 add fresh herbs to balance

If it's still wrong

  • serve with plain rice or noodles
  • mix into a salad with unsalted vegetables

Prevent next time

  • marinate for a shorter time
  • dilute salty marinades with water
