Ingredients on hand
- marinated tofu
- water
- oil
- lemon juice
- herbs
Why it happened
Salt sits on the surface and in the marinade. Rinsing and adding fat and acid reduce perceived saltiness.
The fix
- 1 rinse briefly and pat dry to remove surface salt
- 2 toss with 1 teaspoon oil and lemon juice
- 3 add fresh herbs to balance
If it's still wrong
- serve with plain rice or noodles
- mix into a salad with unsalted vegetables
Prevent next time
- marinate for a shorter time
- dilute salty marinades with water
