Biscotti Too Hard
Your biscotti are tooth-breakingly hard because they baked too long. Soften them with steam or serve for dunking.
Part of baking cooking fixes and dry food fixes .
too hard dry texture vegetarian
Ingredients on hand
- biscotti
- milk
- foil
- coffee
- chocolate
Why it happened
Biscotti dry out during the second bake. A little moisture and gentle heat make the crumb less brittle.
The fix
- 1 brush lightly with milk and wrap in foil
- 2 warm at 275F for 6 minutes to soften
- 3 serve for dunking in coffee or tea
If it's still wrong
- crush into a dessert topping
- dip in melted chocolate for a softer bite
Prevent next time
- shorten the second bake by a few minutes
- cool fully before judging crispness
Notes
Why this works
Biscotti texture is controlled by moisture. Reintroducing a small amount of liquid and warming gently softens the crumb without turning it soggy.
Substitutions
- milk → almond milk
- coffee → hot chocolate
